DfMA in Fire Protection

Design. Fabricate. Assemble. Protect.

Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) takes fire protection from site-by-site improvisation to factory-grade precision. By advanced prefabrication and testing modules off-site, we enhance quality, improve safety, and shorten installation windows — all while providing teams with cleaner, simpler builds on-site.

Why DfMA for fire protection

Traditional projects front-load risk onto the site. DfMA flips that model by moving complex work into a controlled environment, where assemblies are engineered, fabricated, and tested before they ever reach the job site. The result: consistent quality, fewer variables, faster installation, and a build that’s easier to coordinate across trades.

The measurable gains

Independent of project type, our DfMA program consistently delivers step-change improvements:

  • 100% quality & assurance checks in factory conditions
  • 90% reduction in safety hazards through controlled workflows
  • 30% reduction in costs via lean manufacturing and repeatable assemblies
  • 40% faster installation on site
  • 60% reduction in labour at the workface
  • 90% reduction in on-site errors and rework
  • Wastage reduced to 5%
  • These are program-level benefits from our SIDEX panels and internal reporting.

What a DfMA module looks like

A module is a complete, tested assembly — for example, a Core Riser, Pre-Action Control Valve, or Fire Pump module — delivered with documentation and connection points ready for plug-in on site. To date we’ve deployed 154 Core Riser modules, 482 Pre-Action Control Valve modules, and 98 Fire Pump modules across projects.

Safer for people, smarter for projects

DfMA is not just about parts — it’s about people. Shifting work off-site reduces manual handling, exposure hours, and hot-work on live sites; that translates into safer conditions for our teams and partners. People remain at the core of how we design and deliver, and that philosophy shapes the choices behind our methods.

Digital by default

We pair DfMA with Integrated Digital Delivery, IoT, and automation to ensure each module is engineered with data and traceability from design to install — “precision by design, innovation that leads.”

“People at the core. Precision by design. Innovation that leads.”
