Assistant Project Engineer

Job Scope

  • Responsible for assisting Project Engineer in the initial designs, amendments and zone plan drawings for Active Fire’s Fire Protection Systems projects
  • Responsible for assisting in organizing installations from the design right through to the commissioning and sign off of work by client

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate¬† with client, contractors and subcontractors on all technical/engineering issues and verify that technical specifications are adequate under instructions/supervision of Project Engineer
  • Work with Project Engineer to ensure technical and engineering aspects of the project meet client’s needs and government regulatory work requirements and resolve technical differences, if any
  • Review of contract documents to get an understanding of client’s needs and work towards meeting them
  • Prepare project quality plan, method statement, technical & regulatory plans and risk assessment report under instructions of Project Engineer
  • Assist in working out requisition requirements for equipment and materials for the projects
  • Liaise with senior drafters / drafters on technical drawings and perform the required calculations
  • Take part in briefing project / site personnel on the work methods and operational parameters for the projects and monitor for compliance
  • Liaise with Safety Coordinators to ensure safety requirements are met in project work sites
  • Help to supervise technical/engineering work, liaise with main contractors / sub-contractors / site supervisors / tradesmen with regards to the overall implementation on technical requirements on project sites
  • Prepare progress reports for submission to Senior Manager / Project Manager through Project Engineer
  • Leads, supervises, motivates, develops and appraise his direct reports

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering or other relevant trade/vocational certificate
  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant working experience from fire protection/construction installation and management
  • Demonstrates technical expertise in fire detection systems
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external customers
  • Effective communication skills
  • Able to work independently with initiative and perseverance
  • Result-oriented and able to deliver results for multiple projects under tight deadlines
